‘A sight to behold’: perched in the heart of the Haut-Verdon, Beauvezer was once a centre of the cloth-making industry and overlooks the spectacular Saint-Pierre Gorges.
History & heritage
From the Middle Ages onwards, Beauvezer (Belloviderium) flourished thanks to the wool trade and cloth-making — a textile history that is now brought to life by a heritage trail. Devastated by a major fire in 1728, the village was rebuilt and, by the early 20th century, had become a popular health resort.
Geography & setting
In the upper Verdon Valley, between Colmars and Saint-André, Beauvezer is a village perched on a hillside, surrounded by mountains and forests, close to the Saint-Pierre Gorges.
