Castellane, an ancient town with a layout dating back to the Middle Ages, is dominated by the Roc, a cliff some 180 metres high crowned by the Notre-Dame-du-Roc chapel, a place of pilgrimage and a magnificent vantage point. A stop on the famous Route Napoléon, the town has always thrived on its position as a crossroads between Provence and the Alps.
