Spanning the hamlets of Norante and Chaudon, the commune stretches along the Route Napoléon in the Asse Valley.
History & heritage
Norante, the main hamlet, lies alongside the Route Napoléon; Chaudon is nestled higher up, at an altitude of 1,000 metres. Napoleon stopped off in the area on 4 March 1815, and the GR406 ‘Route Napoléon’ still runs through the village, all the way to the panoramic ruins of Château plus Haut.

In the Asse Valley, between Barrême and Digne, the commune combines the valley floor with hilltop hamlets, situated along the historic Route Napoléon.
