History & heritage
Enchastrayes, a village in the upper Ubaye Valley, saw the emergence in the 1930s of the Sauze ski resort, a pioneer in the valley’s tourism boom, alongside the high-altitude hamlet of Super-Sauze.
Geography & setting
On the south-facing slope overlooking Barcelonnette, at altitudes ranging from 1,200 to over 2,400 metres, Enchastrayes combines traditional villages with a ski area, facing the Trois-Évêchés massif.
