History & heritage
Prads-Haute-Bléone was formed in the 1970s through the amalgamation of the former communes of Prads, Mariaud and Blégiers. Long characterised by agrarian and pastoral hamlets, most of which are now largely depopulated, it has become a key starting point for the grand tour of Andy Goldsworthy’s ‘Refuges d’Art’.
Geography & setting
A vast mountain commune in the upper Bléone Valley, it stretches as far as the high peaks of the Estrop massif, amidst a landscape of mountain pastures, forests and torrents to the north-east of Digne-les-Bains.
